Our partner, Keysight, has unveiled a long-awaited addition to its SSA-X Signal Source Analyzer lineup, offering a comprehensive solution for phase noise and signal source analysis extending up to 54 GHz and beyond.
On February 1st, 2024, Keysight Technologies announced the release of three new higher frequency models to its SSA-X Signal Source Analyzer portfolio: E5056A (26.5GHz), E5057A (44 GHz), and E5058A (54 GHz).

These new models offer a single-box solution for comprehensive signal source analysis, covering phase noise measurement, residual noise measurement, transient measurement, spectrum analysis, network analysis, and voltage-controlled oscillators (VCO) characterization.
With built-in clean signal sources operating up to 54 GHz and two RF inputs, residual noise measurements can be conducted without additional equipment or reconfiguration. Additionally, two pairs of local oscillator (LO) output and intermediate frequency (IF) input ports, along with Keysight's new E5051AW phase noise measurement downconverter/phase detector, enable millimeter-wave phase noise measurements beyond 54 GHz.
Optional incorporation of a 2-port vector network analyzer (VNA) eliminates the need for a standalone VNA. The new models boast best-in-class phase noise sensitivity, providing accurate absolute and residual phase noise measurements using extremely low-phase-noise internal LOs and RF sources.
The easy-to-use interface enables quick, multiple measurements with a single connection. Application software has been improved to cater to various measurement needs, including spectrum analyzer and precision clock jitter analysis.
The SSA-X offers accurate random jitter (RJ) and periodic jitter (PJ) measurements in both the time and frequency domains. It boasts 20% higher sensitivity than its predecessor, the SSA, with a sensitivity of 2 femto seconds at 10 GHz, making it ideal for advanced high-speed digital communication applications.
Beside the RF frequency range, our partner Keysight also specifies the following chart showing capabilities and frequency ranges of each model, catering to different application requirements and frequency needs.
