Introducing the EFR32FG23L Sub-GHz Wireless SoC Series
As the official distributor for Silicon Labs, I’m pleased to present the EFR32FG23L — a new line of ultra-low-power, cost-optimized Sub-GHz wireless SoCs created for today’s IoT and wireless sensor applications.
Why EFR32FG23L?
The FG23L series is engineered to deliver strong RF performance and energy efficiency with a streamlined memory configuration. This balance makes it ideal for low-cost, battery-powered devices that still demand reliability and long range.
Key capabilities include:
Efficiency, Range, and Security
The FG23L series achieves long-range communication while keeping active and sleep current extremely low. In many designs, it can deliver up to twice the range compared to similar-class SoCs.
Security is an integral part of the platform, with features such as Secure Vault, secure boot, and hardware-based cryptographic acceleration to protect firmware, data, and communication.
Device Example and Availability
A representative device in the lineup, such as the EFR32FG23L010F128GM40, features a 78 MHz ARM Cortex-M33 core alongside the same 128 kB flash, 32 kB RAM, integrated security elements, and Sub-GHz RF capabilities.
General availability for the FG23L family is scheduled to begin on September 30, 2025, and development kits are already accessible through distribution.
Ideal Applications
Thanks to its optimized memory footprint, robust radio, and low energy usage, the FG23L series is well-suited for:
In Summary
The EFR32FG23L Sub-GHz SoC family offers designers a secure, efficient, and cost-effective platform for next-generation wireless devices. With strong RF capabilities, built-in security, and low power consumption, it’s an excellent fit for compact and battery-powered IoT products.
